Caerphilly Cultural Centre

As part of the overarching 2035 Caerphilly Town plan, the Cultural Centre will be a regional dynamic creative hub located in the heart of the town that will be dedicated to nurturing culture and creativity in an open and freely accessible environment.  We plan to build a place to meet, eat and craft that will be self-sustaining, celebrating the Welsh language, collective endeavour and creativity.

Over the next six years, our goals are to kindle a passion for creative self-expression, to impart knowledge and skills in both English and Welsh, and to offer a diverse range of creative programmes and activities located at the heart of Caerphilly town.

Through a rich tapestry of activity and programming we aim to:

  • Cultivate and showcase creativity, activity and ideas
  • Inspire learning through creative practice and provide accessible pathways for all
  • Strengthen community participation and identity
  • Preserve and celebrate cultural heritage
  • Drive social impact and change
  • Celebrate diversity in all its forms
  • Provide a hub for signposting nearby cultural and heritage based venues
  • Provide a free to access place to gather

A place to entertain and travel to other worlds

Not only do we want to develop the cultural offering within the town centre, there is a growing demand to facilitate a more family friendly night time economy. The team have highlighted the lack of entertainment within the town centre especially for families with key destinations such as the Castle, Library closed and only restaurants and public houses open thereafter. There is evidence to show that the local community has to travel outside of the basin to find its entertainment needs. We’d like to capture this audience and create a programme that will encourage more families into the town.

Our approach is to develop a resilient, phased development that is supported through self sustaining incoming generating activity.  We plan to provide flexible space for creative programming, employment and education by building an open, freely accessible place to gather and a strong social network for the town.

Build on our strong cultural and heritage foundations
